Ecologic and WEEE at a glance
The C2DS would like to make your life easier and encourage you to use eco-organizations wherever possible. Here's the summary sheet produced by Ecologic, a C2DS partner specializing in the collection of certain types of WEEE: an at-a-glance overview of the equipment taken back, how collection is organized and who to contact.
Recap of Ecologic's missions (waste eco-organization)
Ecologic is in charge of collecting and recycling end-of-life Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), including computer and office equipment, kitchen and commercial refrigeration equipment, vending machines and professional tools.
Eco-organizations: the musketeers of recycling
Eco-organizations are all the rage, and rightly so. State-approved not-for-profit structures paid by producers subject to EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility), they each specialize in a specific end-of-life product and equipment collection channel, and ensure their treatment, usually free of charge.
Virtuous cycles for your waste: TerraCycle works alongside C2DS.
TerraCycle is a company specializing in the recycling of traditionally non-recycled waste, i.e. the vast majority of what we throw away. Collection solutions and recycling techniques are sought, but not at any cost. Indeed, the recyclability of waste is defined in terms of an economic equation: the cost of collection and recycling must be lower than the value of the recycled materials - logical!
Breathe in, breathe out!
In health and social care establishments, protection against chemical pollutants deserves the same attention as that against airborne infectious and radioactive risks, but you still need to know which chemical pollutants are present in indoor air.
Recycling batteries is easy, useful... and free!
Corepile, a C2DS partner, is a government-approved eco-organization for the collection and recycling of batteries and accumulators. It organizes collection points and recycling channels, all free of charge for consumers, enabling it to recover around 5,000 tonnes of metals every year.
