C2DS publishes "One health" commitment campaign

To coincide with the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 16), C2DS has published a "one health" campaign: 11 very concrete recommendations for healthcare establishments to preserve biodiversity.

The recent Covid epidemic demonstrated the global nature of health. The preponderance of animal health antibiotics (over 70% of worldwide sales) in circulation calls for a more global fight against antibiotic resistance. Healthcare establishments are on the front line. But there are a thousand other ways in which healthcare professionals can take action to preserve biodiversity... or at least the 11 recommended by the C2DS Biodiversity Club.

> In 2022, to mark the 15th anniversary of C2DS at the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Maison Alfort, a morning session was devoted to the concept of One Health.

> In early 2023, the C2DS launched a monthly Biodiversity Club to move from concept to action. It brings together a large community of two hundred health and medico-social establishments.

>In May 2024, the C2DS organized a seminar in Paris entitled "Une seule santé, l'hôpital agit pour la biodiversité et célèbre les Jardins hospitaliers", and awarded trophies.

>October 2024, publication of the "One health. Preserving biodiversity and protecting human health", 11 recommendations.

Many thanks to theOffice Français pour la Biodiversité for our work together, and toAnap partner of C2DS.

The C2DS pledge campaign is published to mark the opening of COP 16. The objective of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity is the conservation of biodiversity, its sustainable use and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources. This COP, which takes place from October 21st to November 1st 2024 in Colombia, comes two years after the signing of the Kunming Montreal Framework Agreement (COP15, 2022), which calls for the protection of 30% of the planet's land and sea by 2030.
