HADAN

HADAN, responsible HAH!

HADAN is a home hospitalization service for the Nancy and Jans area. HADAN operates in and around Nancy. This represents some 250 patients. In 2021, HADAN will be reducing waste in the patient's home and reusing medical devices, a win-win situation economically, ecologically and socially.

Mélanie Marhic, HADAN Logistics Manager: " Our main missions are to assess patient needs, organize care, coordinate care providers and guarantee the quality and safety of care. Our multidisciplinary team coordinates all aspects of care, including nurse coordinators in the field, coordinating doctors, psychologists, social workers, care assistants and pharmacists. These professionals act in the field to ensure that our patients get the care they need."

A tried-and-tested logistics hub!

HADAN is unique in that it works mainly with self-employed professionals, 80% of whom are self-employed. HADAN also has its own logistics department : "We decided to bring a certain amount of equipment in-house, in particular infusion pumps and feeding pumps. We have a fleet of 250 pumps, including all consumables. We also have columns and small equipment. "

In terms of organization, the logistics chain begins with inventory management, which includes replenishment, orders to laboratories and service providers, and delivery with a team of delivery and collection personnel: "We deliver medical devices to patients and collect them at the end of their treatment. We also work on equipment maintenance. It's checked and tested between each patient to make sure it's working properly. Not forgetting the disinfection part to make sure there's no risk of infection."

Repackaging unused medical devices for sterilization

The infectious risk is the reason why a large quantity of unused equipment is thrown away, equipment packaged in cardboard or plastic, which cannot be disinfected and put back into service. "Putting new equipment in the garbage can, which is considered soiled, is quite difficult for all healthcare professionals. So, in 2021, we introduced over-wrapping. The idea is to enable the disinfection of unused medical devices, by wrapping them in a plastic sheath. So we've added a roll sheath and a sealer to our equipment. The caregiver wraps the material in the plastic sheath, which is then welded on both sides. This gives us an airtight, washable overwrap".

The over-wrapping activity was integrated into the logistics chain, with the hiring of a new employee: "we welcomed Rafaël, a disabled worker from the ESAT, to whom we entrusted the task of disinfection. After two years of service, we hired Rafaël on a permanent contract.

Ecological, economic and social action

The aim of this action is to reduce healthcare waste. Caregivers have also been made aware of the need to make sensible, reasoned orders to avoid waste at source. It's a win-win situation, with savings of 42,000 euros in the first year and 44,000 euros this year: "I should point out that we're dealing with expensive equipment. These are TPN* trays, for example, which cost around 20 euros each. These trays, even if they hadn't been used, would have been thrown away when the patient left home. That's a pretty steep price to pay.

Finally, it's a social action that enables the integration of a disabled person into an ordinary working environment: "We currently have a disabled worker employment rate of 7.37% within our structure, well above the mandatory 6%! "
