The Belharra Clinic in Bayonne: a strong commitment to CSR

The Clinique Belharra, located in Bayonne, is a level 1 healthcare facility, performing around 1,300 deliveries a year. It is committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR). Patrick Ferrandis, the clinic's quality manager and CSR referent, gives us the lowdown.

CSR audit and labeling

The clinic began with a blank CSR audit, taking stock of the initial situation. "This audit was an initial snapshot of the situation we were in at the start of the process. The diagnosis, based on Primum Non Nocere' s THQSE criteria , enabled us to target priority actions. The second snapshot, at the end of the process, enabled us to achieve a certification rate of 89%.

Innovative initiatives

The Belharra clinic has already launched several interesting initiatives:

HQE building: the clinic has been awarded the bronze label for its building, which meets HQE (High Environmental Quality) standards. The materials used comply with the latest standards.

Sustainable mobility: the "Parcolibri" scheme encourages employees not to use the clinic's parking lots. In exchange, they receive a €50 bonus. This innovative approach frees up space for patients.

Waste management: the clinic has 23 waste management channels.

"We have introduced the "custom pack" in the obstetrical unit, particularly for C-sections. The pharmacy has done a great deal of work to assemble only the necessary equipment in packs adapted to the procedure. This means we don't have to open several packs that won't be used, but will still have to be sterilized.

Bio-cleaning of floors: the clinic uses bio-cleaning on horizontal surfaces. For other surfaces, eco-certified products are used, as well as steam cleaning in the obstetrical unit.

Responsible purchasing: the use of EcoVadis software enables us to assess supplier performance and orient our purchasing choices towards CSR criteria.

Eco-designed care

The clinic promotes skin-to-skin care, cord care with soap and water, and the use of eco-certified diapers. Free "Nesting" workshops are organized for parents. "We have developed day hospitalization programs to support parents in specific situations (premature termination of pregnancy, diabetes, endometriosis).

The CSR steering committee, made up of doctors, nurses and service staff, ensures that these positive dynamics are put into practice. "New initiatives have emerged, such as the "health and prevention" bus we are in the process of setting up. This bus will travel from one area to another, promoting prevention in particular. And we have just completed our aeroponic farm, which will enable us to produce vegetables and fruit for our small internal market for employees at very attractive prices".
