Summary

This new provision, which aims to reduce waste, covers the following areas in particular:

  • sales receipts (sales areas and ERP),
  • tickets issued by vending machines,
  • credit card receipts.

To obtain a printed ticket, the consumer must now expressly request one. Information to this effect must be legible and comprehensible, and displayed at the point of payment.

Exceptions
Certain tickets will continue to be printed automatically after August1, 2023. These include

  • sales receipts for the purchase of "durable" goods, indicating the existence and duration of the legal guarantee of conformity. The full list of these goods can be found in article D211-6 of the French Consumer Code,
  • bank card receipts for cancelled or credited transactions,
  • tickets issued by vending machines, which must be kept and presented in order to benefit from a product or service.
